JANUARY SOLO ART EXHIBIT IN SANTA BARBARA FEATURES MICRO-CRYSTAL ARTWORK BY CAROL ROULLARD
Faulkner West Small Gallery At The Santa Barbara Library Exhibits The Distinctive Micro-Crystal Works of Artist Carol Roullard During January 2014
MOORPARK, CA – January 7, 2014 – A unique solo art exhibit of Carol Roullard’s work is now on display January 2nd through the 31st in the Faulkner West Small Gallery at the Santa Barbara Library. Ms. Roullard’s solo show was juried in by the City of Santa Barbara.
Carol Roullard’s micro-crystal fine art offers the viewer an opportunity to use their imagination and interpret scenes and objects in her abstract artwork; reminiscent of perceiving shapes in clouds in the sky. The images are in fact photographs taken through the microscope of homegrown crystals.
Ms. Roullard uses different chemicals to grow crystals on a microscope slide and applies polarized light and filters to create color and mood.
“My goal is to create art that stands out, moves people and beckons the viewer to return over and over again,” says Carol Roullard. “Each time I grow crystals and place the slide on the microscope’s stage, a new dazzling world springs forth through the lens. I’m always amazed by the vibrant colors, unusual patterns and textures. Sometimes I see mountain ranges, seascapes or flowers. Sometimes I encounter abstracts with beautiful flowing lines colliding into opposing crystals, opening up into rivers of color.”
Once captured, Ms. Roullard uses her artistic skills to perfect the final image that will captivate viewers. The work is then infused on large sheets of aluminum, achieving the same depth and luminosity that the artist perceived through the microscope.
You can see Ms. Roullard’s fine art at the Faulkner West Small Gallery at 40 East Anapamu Street in the Santa Barbara Library building during Library hours.
